Our Housing Crisis: How we got here and what we can do
Has affordable housing always been this difficult to find? If not, how did we get into the situation that we are in? How did housing become a commodity and not something that the society ensures everyone has? What effect has systemic racism had on the availability of quality affordable and accessible housing in the U.S. and locally? Is the availability of affordable housing in Franklin County better, worse, or just like everywhere else in the country? Is there any help from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts or from the Federal Government available on the horizon to help us deal with the daunting task of developing affordable housing? What can citizens do with or without government help to create more affordable housing?
